The Airfields of the Project
The airfields that were used by the RCAF Bomber Command as from 1943 were mainly based in North Yorkshire.
After the formation of Group 6 Bomber Command with its Head Quarters at Allerton Castle (Knaresborough), the airfields were situated in between York and Darlington.
However, some of the RCAF Squadrons were belonging to other groups (like 405 Squadron, Pathfinders of Group 8 ) and will of course be included in the Project.
Many RCAF Fighter Squadrons were formed in RAF Digby, Lincolnshire. The poem High Flight, known to every pilot, was made here.
RCAF Coastal Command will also be discussed at a later stage.
